A Brief History of Williamston EMS The Williamston Emergency Medical Service was originally formed as a volunteer rescue squad in 1966. These dedicated volunteers served the community well and were pioneers in the early days of EMS. In 1992, advancements in pre hospital medicine and an increase in the need for around the clock paramedic coverage, the squads began paying Paramedics and EMT’s for 24-hour coverage. Currently Williamston EMS provides 24-hour Paramedic coverage to the town of Williamston and surrounding county. Williamston EMS strives to provide the highest quality of emergency medical care to the citizens of Anderson County. In addition to the 24-hour emergency services Williamston EMS provides non-emergency transportation, both local and long distance. If you have any questions about our non emergency transports, please follow the link above to the Non Emergency Transportation page and there you will find contact information as well as some frequently asked questions.
